Wilderness- in and of itself is "therapy" for lots of people.  Most people that find the wilderness soothing are probably out there now- breathing clean air and getting exercise instead of sitting on their asses in front of a computer screen.  To each his own.

If your kid is sitting at home on their ass in front of the computer, then why dont you buy them a bike and tell them to go out with their friends? Oh, that's right -- you are a program parent -- you are too afraid to allow your kid that kind of freedom. The only kind of social freedom your child is allowed is 'supervised freedom'. Do you really think the wilderness is soothing when it is used as a prison? I find a lot of activities soothing, but they might not be so soothing if I am forced against my will to said activities. You must be 'thewho' because only he  can stretch logic to the nth degree as you have tried.

Speaking as someone who lived that way for a long time, forcing someone to go out and interact who probably is in need of a haircut, a new warddrobe, and who has no social skills is not going to be very 'therapeutic' or pleasant or enjoyable at all.

If someones that fucked up because you were too hands off, then youre going to need to teach them how to groom, dress, and act. I grew out of it the hard way, until I befriended someones 40 going on 14 mom. Go fig 8)

Social anxiety due to rejection and just in general looking and acting like a dweeb isn't something you fix by shoving a bike under their ass and shoving them out the driveway. I can also say it sure as hell isnt fixed by programs.

Theres no way it could! You have no freedom in a program for any social development, except for how to suck up to people in charge and live in fear.

 It kills me how stupid people are. YOUR KIDS LEARN FROM YOU, SO START TEACHING!

DannyB on the internet:I CALLED A LAWYER TODAY TO SEE IF I COULD SUE YOUR ASSES FOR DOING THIS BUT THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE.

CCMGirl on program restraints: "DON\'T TAZ ME BRO!!!!!"

TheWho on program survivors: "From where I sit I see all the anit-program[sic] people doing all the complaining and crying."

I can vouch for Niles on this. His parents just did a fucked up job of raising him, that's all. When I met him he just didn't know how to act. I must say, though, that he was a very quick study and an absolute pleasure to teach. Niles, if you ever want to do some post graduate work, you still have my number, right???

I wasn't talking about kids----I was talking about you.
