In real life maybe the above post is true. But on this site it is not. People here are to busy tryin to be the big dog that they end up looking like retards in the end!
It is 110% true though some people have a more humble streak in them than others.
Why anyone who went to Elan and graduated wants to be proud of that though is beyond me.
That means you took part in the demeaning abuse of those that were not as good as you.
You helped to emotionally, mentally, verbally abuse adolescents!
That abuse has caused many kids to be traumatized for years after they left Elan.
Ever hear of PTSD?
Well, Elan and the jerks in it were the #1 cause of PTSD in alot of teenagers.
WOW! Lets be proud we were caught up in a mob mentality.

When I was in Elan I did not participate 1 freakin time in the GM's or encounter groups. I was not there very long.
I just could not grasp the concept of screaming degrading things at someone. I did not see how that was therapy.
Still don't.
Thank the good Lord I was pretty ok when I finally left Elan.
I had mild PTSD that therapy and meds took care of by the time I was 18.
Now I am a-ok and wonder this, how many of you Elan Graduates still have your diplomas hanging up? :rofl:

I could not agree more - there will always be those hamsters who keep chasing that damned carrot in front of them, not realizing they're on a friggin treadmill. When and if that realization does hit them, they stop running, and the inertia propels them into the opposite wall, causing traumatic damage to their little hamster bodies. Remember that when you wake up screaming 'House in the Dining Room' and find said hamster gnawing at your genitals. Many have been there, and trust them, it is no fun.

However, if I ever see an elan diploma hanging on any wall, anywhere, I will give the occupants a 10 second headstart, in addition to the four minutes, 22 seconds it will take me to run to the gas station and purchase a 5-gallon tank and fill it with a mixture of motor oil and 87 octane gasoline and some strike-anywhere matches. Much like each of your lesbian mothers, it will not be pretty.

Ok, so let me get this straight.... all of thoese people that played the game...you actually BELIEVED that they were actually like that??? Besides, everyone played the game in order to avoid a "VR" or worse. No one believes the so called normal kids were really like that. It was just very sad to see people get yanked into mob mentality. Poor
youngsters. Of course people think about Elan! It was a horror show! No wonder people left to become crack heads/junkies/freaks/transvestites/car jackers/dead from od's/rapists/suicide commiters and those were the graduates!!
That place fcked everyone up! I like to vent here and only here cuz it is better than letting it come out IRL. Besides this place is good for me. I get to laugh my ass off at others more unfortunate than I.

I felt pretty shitty every time I "ganged" up on someone cuz I needed to get off a shotdown or break a so called contract I had. I lost some cool pals cuz Elan and the freaks in it deemed it a contract. Goddamned Expeditors and their clipboards! See thats all you gotta do creeps. I admitted it. Why do you always say I did what I had to do. So did I loser. I feel bad for being one of the jerks though. You don't. That is why I said you have no conscience.

I feel bad for buying into the elan program but what choice did I have? Did I want to be one of those people that ends up being there for 3 years? Hell no!!!

The way I see it you had to play their game regardless if you agreed with it or not. Even if you thought it was run by the devil you still had to play along. After awhile you started to believe it and it wasn't until years later that you looked back and saw it for what it was. Anyway, Elan is just a tiny speck on the map and so unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I can't disagree with 90% of the people on this site though, it's a fucking hole and needs to be shut down. They are out of their fucking minds!!

Some of us took a look at this board to see if anyone we knew had posted, a natural curiosity.
Some of us liked a couple of people we cohabitated with.
My life is fine as are the lives of the very few other people
who think you kids are bored to death and have nothing better to do than feel sorry for yourselves about a wrinkle in time that really wasnt that bad.
maybe if you came out of the basement and joined the real world you'd find that Elan was no big deal.

Most of us left, grew up, finished college, got jobs and DID NOT partake in any of the sordid shit you seem to think we did.
Only the people who were headed for that shit BEFORE elan
ENDED UP doing it.

some of us didnt belong there or need to be there so we just did what we had to do and left.
The ones of you who DID need 'help' are the ones who ended up

I, for one, had only the average rebellion any teenager would have
(with or without Elan)
after I left.
That only lasted about a year.
You're really wrong when you generalize and assume that everyone ended up doing awful things.
Like I said-
If you ENDED UP in shit, you likely were IN SHIT before Elan.
Elan didnt fuck you up, you were fucked before you got there.

Lets put it this way I was 14 when I entered Elan 3. I was not doing what I ended up doing as an adult. I did not have the knowledge of that lifestyle yet. I was 1/2 good in Elan 1/2 bad. Not what you would call a success story by any means. I will never say that Elan was to blame 100% for the way my life ended up in my early 20's.
It was a messed up place. No one would argue that.
I despised it nearly every second I was there. A few times I had fun. Like skiing, camping, deep sea fishing, canoe trip, ect. Those were the few good times. Few and far between!!
Now at 30 I have a little business cleaning houses which is lucrative enough for me. I am no longer doing drugs. I am happy as can be.
I sometimes wish I did better there in Elan and other times I figure hey it happened as it was meant to happen.
No regrets, no blame. Right?
Regardless Elan was a learning experience for me. One I'd never wish upon another. But everyone is entitled to their oponions right?

I guess those of us in Elan in the 90's were lucky compared to the others before us. I bet it was a "summer camp" for us.
I remember some of the people who were above me and who treated me like shit cuz I was not up there in the dichotomy with them. Maybe if Elan was like it was in the 80's they would not of been so smug and high and mighty. It is so far behind me now but when my mind wanders to that time in my history I do love thinking evil thoughts about those people who seemed to cream their pants when they got to "punish" one of us less than's.
I often wonder though would I of been a jerk to people lower than me if I was high up in the dichotomy? Who knows. I always was a champion for the under dog.
