The school year alone was roughly only 9 months long. This left 3 for kids to be at home
ASR schools their children year round. There are schools that go year round and are not considered abusive.

kids went home for 5 days over thanksgiving
Kids did not go home for thanksgiving. I know of some schools that only gave the kids 4 days, would this be considered abusive?
Kids went home for about 2 weeks over xmas
Some kids were not ready to go home, others did not celebrate Christmas or Thanksgiving, some kids did go home for Christmas, Some kids were just starting the program. It just wasn?t manageable. Most schools have a specific start date and end date. ASR has kids starting all year long, so scheduled holidays are difficult at best.
Parents and family do come to the school to visit and kids get to go home a few times.
there were at least 2 weekends where most of my class mates left on Saturday and came back on Sunday night to go an look at colleges. I suppose such things don?t really matter at ASR as academics are not a priority
All the kids that I knew would take off with their folks to visit colleges if they were perusing at the time. They never restricted this.
I believe there was a spring break as well but i cant recall how long it was
So even at a school which prided itself on being strict and structured, out of 9 months there were at least 20 days where kids were off campus and with loved ones with no bullshit conditions. Have things changed at normal BS recently?
ASR does not have a spring break? There are many colleges that do not have a spring break and teach year round. It is not abusive to not have this.
