ZenAgent, I believe that is what Who is saying.  He is saying that if he could go back, he could parent better, provide more checks, and a program might not have been needed.  He is not saying he did not make parenting mistakes.  He is saying that due to a combination of parenting being lax in monitoring where his daughter was heading and her own choices, out of love and concern, h chose to send her to ASR.  His daughter is not reporting any abuse from either wilderness or ASR.  He has a good relationship with her today and she pursued her education.  I think his situation is different from that in your family, where your stepdaughter was sent away by a negligent parent without your approval or input.  It also sounds like PV was not a program like ASR and had much more potential for abuse.

And he doesn't need a 'public defender'. How do you come by your story? He stated on Fornits that she didn't persue education, split to NY and didn't talk to him for 2 years. For all anyone knows he's a Ed Con who never had a kid in a program.
Rarely does a kid come out of program and report abuse. Ya'll just don't get the conditioning, do you? Would your son have told you about Carlbrook if you hadn't asked specifics? No. Why do you think that is?

I believe Who said that after the initial return from ASR and a period of living on her own and testing the waters, that he had/has a good relationship with his daughter and that she is going to school.  Who, is that correct?

I listened to my kid during the time he was in the program and after. It did not take asking specific questions. When I heard something from my kid that I didn't like the sound of, I was all over the senior staff.  Nothing stopped kids from telling parents what was going on at the school.

Sorry guest, this is what you get here if you don?t embrace the group position or take a viewpoint outside of theirs.  Parents move on before anyone can get a message to them.  Its more about dumping their anger in a post as apposed to helping any kids, its too bad.  I think there is a lot of value that Fornits can add to a parents decision instead of just trashing their point of view and chasing them off.

The "guest" is well aware of what happens on Fornits. She is no stranger. There will always be parents such as yourself who condone the abuse and consider it 'therapy'.

I'm glad you pointed this out, even though it should be pretty obvious.

Not a program like ASR in what ways?

ZenAgent: You recall the year of that Butthole Surfers show? 85-86?

That sounds about right, but Bob Mould's album came out in...88, I think.  I remember they were close together, timewise.  84-98=somewhat foggy memory, due to society's ills, yeah...that's what it was.  I remember the B-holes were louder than God.

Exactly what happened. My daughter moved to NYC and I only heard from her once in 2 years, still never went to school.

Yet two more things that I'm glad you brought attention to, Deborah. I was thinking the same thing reading this, but let it go figuring someone else would hit on it and you didn't let me down. :)

It took me 20 YEARS to begin wondering about that weird place I got sent to...

TO ALL PARENTS: These program pushers are creeps; they are best to be avoided.
Crooked as a barrell of snakes they are, the bloody lot of them!

That is true, thanks.  There is a post under my name that states she moved to New York and never talked to me for 2 years.  She had a difficult transition period after finishing up at ASR for a few weeks but got back on track on her own.  They have since addressed this and I heard they have a smoother transition in place.  I was a little worried at the time but she just wanted to see her old friends and eventually found she had grown and moved on and develped new friends.
