Fornits doesn't need CRAP POLICE, it needs readers to decide for themselves if they want to read a post that may or may not be CRAP FREE.

Enter at your own risk.  Don't like a thread (or object to it being categorically incorrect) you have options:

State your opinion
Don't state your opinion
Hit the back button
Find another board where you can play King of the Hill (or crap pile)

Whatever.  Just do something.

USE IT OR LOSE IT.

Remember, this ain't no average discussion board.  See Message in upper right hand corner of page:

"If ya can't find something offensive here, check your pulse or clean your contacts!"--Eudora

The meaning attched to this message could not be more clear.  Fornits is what it is.  A mostly censorship free board.

All you naysayers should be careful what you wish for.

Moderator Free.  Kind of like talking outta group.

Rampant Talking Out of Group!

And really, isn't that a whole lot better than the alternative?

The trolls and foul-mouthed weenie posters don't have any power over your thoughts if you don't give it to them.

So get a grip.  Nobody owns your thoughts, this is not a PROGRAM.  It's a damn discussion board.  Keep it in perspective, folks.

There is a time and place for everything.
No one is suggesting censorship. Just putting things in their place, is all.

Suggesting one hit the back button is like suggesting someone un-ring a bell. Once you've opened a thread to see what it says - by the time you wish you hadn't read it, you have.

The extreme vulgarity does not belong on a board dedicated to the discussion of such a serious issue. It absolutely degrades the integrity of the board; polluting every message on it.

I see no reason at all not to move such post, or thread, to a forum more appropriate. It seems like a very workable solution to Ginger's not wanting to censor; and others not wanting to have to wade threw profane filth to see if something meaningful might have been posted.

That being said, it's not as if I think their is the slightest chance any such change will ever be made. It is my opinion that this makes the board a lot less valuable as a resource - and so for that reason, I regret it.

I am never comfortable telling anyone to read fornits - b/c what they might stumble across could be grossly vulgar - not enlightening. It would be much different if one could say, check out this board - but avoid the sewer forum, unless you like gutter talk.

I'm not so sure Ginger's warning, up there on the left, is meant as a warning of profanity and pornographic topics. I thought of it more as a warning there are many diverse and extreme opinions expressed on social and political and religious issues. But maybe I'm wrong.

And sure, I could go away and not bother with Fornits. I have at times taken a break, b/c it just got so extreme I found it stressful to read. But I've always come back. I do at times feel like I need to sign off and never come back. Its not like the world would end - and no one would miss me. I would miss a lot of people here - but I guess I'd get over it in time. I just wish there was a less extreme way to avoid the Porn while not missing real posts. I am certainly not alone in wishing this.
