Following the leads from the other thread re the doctor and psych at Straight VA, it turns out Dr. Richard Schwartz is or was also involved in treating a condition called selective mutism.

This reminded me of a guy in Straight in 1987 who would not speak. They would stand him up but he would never speak. (PLEASE, if you remember this person's name do not say it here.)

I wonder if Schwartz was at Straight in 1987? Did he see this person? Has this person or their family ever been able to obtain copies of medical and psych records from the time in Straight?

I can also only speculate what would lead a doctor to be interested in both Straight -- which caused intense anxiety in children -- and selective mutism -- which is caused by anxiety .

Bizarre.

What is Selective Mutism?

Oh, you'll just love this one, then.

"The other part of my professional life is drug abuse. And that's very interesting, because drug abuse is really a deficiency of fear. The striking thing about drug abusers is that in the face of really dreadful things happening down the road, they persist in a behavior, in spite of it. So I find on one hand, in my life with anxiety disorders, I'm constantly working with people to say, "Stay in the present and disregard your fears." And in my world in the drug abuse, I'm constantly saying to people, "Think ahead. Where is it going? Be more fearful." So it's pretty clear to me that having too little fear is a different kind of problem, but a desperately serious problem also."

When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, "Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?"

I graduated from Springfield in Feb. of 87.  Schwartz was still around at that time, but I can't say in what capacity.

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

"Dr." Richard Schwartz is a pedophile who is a pediatrician in Fairfax County. Proof positive that ALL Straight parents are equally pedophiles since none of them have ever done any thing to protect any other children from his pedophilia by making him lose his license with the VA medical board. I hope that generation dies off soon. Good riddance.
