At the recent NATSAP conference in Clearwater Beach, FL, the C.S. Landre Foundation, Inc. (a 501(c)(3) public benefits, non-profit organization, offered a creative format to families looking for means to help tuition costs. The program is named Suggested Funds.
Educational consultants and program placement specialists have utilized this program to find additional funds and placed students in appropriate therapy programs.
Through the past 8+ years the C.S. Landre Foundation has provided various methods to develop outside funds beyond the scope of student loans in private pay. Having honed the process with a number of major programs and a mix of smaller programs, the opportunity was established to help families with students going to or in various treatment programs. The objective is to help families request support and assistance from a mix of acquaintances and business connections.
The format has proven successful and gives additional methods for program admissions departments. The Foundation has assisted families in over 40 programs across the US and abroad. Lance Landre, President and CEO, says, "the primary objective of this program is to assist children and offer parents an avenue to be creative in developing funds for their student's needs. Cost of most therapy programs are mostly born by the family through private pay avenues. Many health insurance companies do not support long-term assistance in their policies and thus, a major funding dilemma becomes a terrible choice between getting therapy for their children and not treating the conditions. I know because I walked in the same shoes nearly 10 years ago. Everyone that I have spoken to at therapy programs who deal with the placement of children agree that the biggest hurdle is how the family can afford the needed care. These families will go to extreme means to provide as best they can. And, there are families that are not looking at potential opportunities to develop funds which could cover part if not all of the tuition."
Since its inception, the foundation has helped families across the US and abroad. General information can be reviewed on the website, and program admissions personnel and educational consultants involved in therapy placement are encouraged to review the information and contact the foundation.
