George Jones / Bartender's Blues

Rehabbed the ol' Gibson acoustic, strung it up and been playing solid-gold classic country.  Got a nice setlist of 14 bigtime hits so far to pick whilst grinning.  Really love this one though and the key of A is my natural vocal key.

Sounds good. I've got a nice Guild, a D-55, but damned if those guitars aren't some temperamental sumbitches.. y'better keep 'em humidified and happy, dontcha know (Seems I learn things the hard way in this life.) The top started warping a little, and the bridge has pulled away from the top a little, like a millimeter...no biggie really. I'm going to have to file that bridge down a little more (a quick and much more affordable fix than having the top repaired by a luthier). It plays, and I still use it right now, but the action could be a little lower. I found this info helpful, in case you ever run into this problem with a guitar:

Oh yeah and please feel free to upload songs here, if that is possible..

Thank you Froderik, that's a great link. I once saw a russian made accuostic guitar with an adjustable chrome bridge. It seems that no two brands of bronze strings intonate the same.I wish I could set the intonation on my Ibenez.

I haven't had any real problems with the axe even though it sat on the stand for many years in a less-than-perfectly-dry basement.  I did notice some chips in the saddle when I was stringing it and one causes a bit of a buzzing on my high E.  A new saddle is under ten bucks.  Just have to figure out its width with a caliper.  The two saddles these guitars come with are a 16th of an inch different in width.

George Jones / If Drinking Don't Kill Me
Merele Haggard / Mama Tried
Robert Duvall / If You'll Hold The Ladder (from Tender Mercies)

Solid.  I'm really enjoying playing these country classics and the only thing I have a bit of trouble with is playing and singing in 3/4 time with a 4/4 habit.  But it's shaping up nicely.  Even my wife, who *hates* country with a passion, said to me last night "Wow, babe, that's a beautiful song."  Bartender's Blues.

I must testify as to the power of music on the soul in desperate times; I have an insatiable taste for grunge I developed during my high school years, and consequently, the whole "Superunknown" album (which I got as a Christmas 2010 gift at BCA) artistically reflected the pattern of my fluctuating mood during my time at the school, while also being entirely responsible for getting me through the program. Seriously, if I wasn't able to use Soundgarden's music as a coping mechanism to tune out the outside world, I don't know how I would have made it out of that place. I quite literally have Chris Cornell to thank for saving my life!

You were lucky they let you listen to music at all.

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

This is one by him that I'd been wanting to check out.. I've heard it's good.. ?

Last good one I heard by MD is In A Silent Way, the prototype for later albums like Bitches Brew and On The Corner.

Ever check out Sketches of Spain?  That's another one that is kind of a prototype for Bitches Brew.

I guess you know the story of Hendrix and Miles from that time period........

Yeah Froderick, I don't really know the "Tribute to...J.J." record well enough to give you a review.  Miles Davis is a weirdo.  Sometimes I like his playin and sometimes I don't.

I've discovered that I love female jazz singers.  I've been listening to some wicked women sing jazz on the radio at night.

Nancy Wilson_Naturally(v), The Good Life(v)
Dinah Washington_September in the Rain(v)
Sara Vaughn_"Dancin in the Dark"(v), "Aint No Use"(v)

Who are the best female jazz singers ??
