Weird, Frod:
I listened to several 'Watchtower'-s yesterday,
Dylan being one...

And Antigen:  clock reads 8:43p, and it's 12:43p.
That's what I meant.

Woo-Hoo!  great news!!  I walked into the Shady Dog record store, which is on the "main line" outta Philly, in Berwyn, PA, on "black friday" and they were havin their biggest sale of the year!  30% off!  I picked up a load 'a' great stuff, including the CTI Summer Jazz, featuring George Benson, on vinyl.  Which is something I've been hoping to run across for years.  They even had part 2 of the same show, which is a completely separate record.  Naturally I bought that too.  I'll tell ya that "California Dreamin" is the single best jam in my entire collection, and as I've done here before, I highly recommend it.

Here's what else I brought home:

The California Concert at the Hollywood Palladium(another George Benson and friends jam, recorded 7/18/71)

Newport in New York '72, the soul sessions, featuring: Roberta Flack, B.B. King, Curtis Mayfield, Herbie Mann, Les McCann and Billy Eckstine

Blue Note Live at the Roxy, featuring: Donald Byrd, Earl Klugh, Ronnie Laws, Carmen McRae, Alphonse Mouzon, The Blue Note all-stars, Gerry Brown, Gene Harris, Bobby Hutcherson and John Lee

In Concert, Volume 2, featuring: Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Ron Carter, Jack Dejohnette and Eric Gale

Jazz Critics Choice(Columbia,'80)

In Performance at the Playboy Jazz Festival, featuring Grover Washington, Jr., Weather Report, the Manhattan Transfer, Art Farmer and others too numerable to list

Cal Tjader_Soul Sauce

Brother Can You Spare a Dime, American Song During the Great Depression(New World records, '77.  A compilation containing the likes 'a' Bing Crosby, Big Bill Broonzy and of course Woody Guthrie)

Stanley Clarke_Modern Man

Yusef Lateef_Prestige

A Jazz Piano Anthology(CBS, "Columbia" Records, '73)

Jazz Spectrum, featuring: Don Byas, Coleman Hawkins and Stan Getz

Jazz Spectrum, featuring Sarah Vaughan, Dizzie Gillespie, Chalrie Mingus and Miles Davis

Sax Greats, featuring Stan Getz, Coleman Hawkins and others.(Looks like a collection of live recordings but I haven't listened to this one yet)

They All Played Bebop(another compilation)

Nica's Dream, Small Jazz Groups of the 50s and Early 60s(MJQ, Jazz Messengers, Sonny Rollins & Co., Art Farmer/Benny Golson Jazztet and others)

Little Feat_Waiting For Columbus(Great to finally have this on vinyl!)

Robert Palmer_Pressure Drop(Most of the members of Little Feat appear on this record, including Lowell George on guitar)

Leon Russell and the Shelter People_self-titled

Hot Tuna_Double Dose and Recorded Live at the New Orleans House, Berkeley

Fleetwood Mac_Future Games and Vintage Years and Fleetwood Mac Live

Mick Fleetwood_Visitor

Gregg Allman_Laid Back

Allman Joys_Early Allman, featuring Gregg and Duane Allman

Gregg and Duane Allman_self-titled(Springboard Records)

Phil Collins_Face Value(had to get this for "I missed Again")

George Harrison_The Concert For Bangladesh

J. Geils Band_Bloodshot

U2_(no title; a 10" 45 containing "New Years Day"(long version), "Treasure(Whatever happened to Pete the Chop)", "Fire" and "I Threw a Brick Through a Window/A Day Without Me"

Terence Trent D'arby_Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'arby

Crosby, Stills and Nash_Daylight Again

Average White Band_Person to Person

Black Flag_In My Head

Collectors History of Classic Jazz, a 5 record box set

The Worlds Greatest Music Series 'Pop' Jazz, 5 record box set

and at the very end the cat who runs the place threw in:

Maxell Jazz Sampler, Paul Simon_There Goes Rhymin Simon, and as an early Christmas present, the Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz(6 record box set with booklet)

Oh and just as I was checkin out I noticed a Jello Biafra spoken word cd sittin right next to the cash register so I picked that up too.  It's called "In the Grip of Official Treason, spoken word album # 8".  Very entertaining...

...so that's it...

Rock on survivors   :rocker:  :poison:  :peace:  :poison:

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

Yeah man.  Been workin my way through the new stack 'a' jazz and California Dreamin.

I didn't know george benson was from Pittsburgh until today.  it was mentioned in an article I read in the paper about a local street musician in Pittsburgh.  I guess George Benson had been one of his neighbors when he was a kid and Benson encouraged him to play music.  I forget his name now...oh, le's see here it is...Reggie Howze, claims he was a neighbor of the famous jazz guitar player, George Benson.  Well, that's pretty dang cool.  Reggie has been playin his alto saxophone on the streets of the north side of Pittsburgh for 10 years now.  They actually issue licenses to street performers and the cat has to have one, even so the cops can shue him off if they feel like it. So much for freedom. That sucks, I hope the cops opt to leave him alone and throw the occasional dollar in his hat. When we have asinine laws like that, we can only hope that the cops are cool enough to let people be despite what they're 'supposed' to do.... "The Pig Was Cool" is a song by Killdozer.
