Stevie Wonder:

From the album Talking Book:

"Big Brother"(This is a bad-ass, righteous tune featuring a lead harmonica and a hand drum rhythym section about life in the ghetto and the oppressiveness of the government and the way it manipulates and lies to its citizens.  The last line of the song is: "You've killed all our leaders...I don't even have to do nothin' to you...You'll cause your own country to fall".  Beautiful man...beautiful...)

"Blame it on the Sun"(This song makes me think that Christina Aguilara(SP??) must'a' grown up listening to Stevie Wonder records.  If you listen to this song his influence on her will be obvious to you.  Especially if you listen to "Blame It On the Sun" and then play that "We are Beautiful" song of hers, wchich I like a lot too, mainly because of the way she can sing.)

"You Are the Sunshine of My Life"(such a nice song)

Rock on survivors.  You rule!!!! : :skull: ::rocker::  ::hatter::

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

Radiohead--"The Bends"  In my mind, they've never equalled track one from their first release, this is their best work as far as I'm concerned.  Don't get me wrong, I like a hell of a lot of their stuff, I think they are an awesome band and I regret not seeing them live when I had a chance to a couple of years ago.  This is a damn good song.

Black Uhuru--"Sensimilla", "Abortion", "Plastic Smile", "Shine Eye Gal", "I Love King Sellassie", "Big Spliff", "Guess WHo's Coming To Dinner"----  I was way into reggae after gettting out of Straight in 1983, it was a happening scene, positive vibes, girls thought it was ncool, and Rastafarians smoked copious amounts of weed, so I thought it was cool.  I liked Marley OK, but I think he's a great songwriter, world class, but as far as performances went, Peter Tosh and Black Uhuru were the wicked shit.  Tosh, well, he was Peter Tosh, and Black Uhuru had Sly & Robbie in the rythm section, unequaled anywhere, anytime.  Black Uhuru were militant rastas, and their use of male and female harmonies gave them a really etheric texture, and Michael Rose was as good a front man as anybody.  They went for a crossover market, made some videos, and had some degree of success, though they never were household names like Marley.

Sigur Ros--"Frugufelsarrin"-- I like these guys with their dreamy Icelandic melodies.  Good stuff to chill to on drugs.  Buy some.  Drugs, that is, download the music somewhere, but see the band live if they come around your area.

96.9 BOB fm broadcasting outta Pittsburgh, PA:

Beastie Boys: "YOU GOTTA FIGHT, For Your Right... To PARTY !!!

directly followed by:  Golden Earrings' "Twilight Zone", flollowed by Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians doin' "What I am Is What I Am, Are You What You Are or What...??"

I thought this was a particularly nice grouping, seemlessly meshed together, each flowing nicely into the other.

John Zorn--The Big Gundown (reissue)--John Zorn's take on Ennio Morricone film scores, the reissue has Mike Patton (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) doing the vox on "McCain".  Cool stuff.

"No one knew better than McCane/The lengths a desperate man would go/......."

Judas Priest--"Diamonds And Rust" (live and studio versions)

Joan Baez--"Diamonds and Rust"

Interesting comparing the different versions of this song, the JP live version, from Unleashed In The East is my particular fave.  I think it's a hallmark of a great song if it can be covered by drastically different artists and still maintain it's integrity ass a song, and this one fills the bill.

Black Sabbath--"Heaven and Hell", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", "Children of the Grave", "Into THe Void" (live vids from youtube)

Blue Oyster Cult--"Astronomy", "Veteran Of the Psychic Wars", "Dancing in the Ruins" (cheesy, I know, but I really like the line "I'd like to see you/Dancing in the ruins tonight"), "Take Me Away", "Shooting Shark" (more youtube stuff)

Yep, she did.  Best song she ever wrote, it just took Judas Priest to do it right.

A little side note on Judas Priest---When I was 13 or 14, I had a Priest poster on my bedroom wall, my mom told me she thought they looked kinda gay.  I was quite offended, and said something like "No way, Mom,they rock too hard to be faggots" or something like that.  Just shows to go ya how wrong ya can be..........
