Well, take one of my heroes for instance.  Ozzy Osbourne, as a boy he was a delinquent, always in trouble an' challenging authority.  He could 'a easily ended up doin' lots 'a time in jail and mental institutions, would'a' been a prime candidate for a place like $tr8, but instead he directed his energy into art and became a singer/songwriter and went on to front one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Black Sabbath.

I know Ozzy aint the healthiest example, but think where he'd a been without rock-n-roll.

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.

That is precisely my point.  Because Ozzy is a disturbed cat.  Instead of becoming some crazy criminal or potential murderer he just became a crazy rock star instead.

He became both...well, he murdered animals. Do you really think that Ozzy would have started murdering people if he hadn't become the singer for BS?

Well, I don't know.  I am not a full on expert on Ozzy but he was a hero of mine before I was in $tr8 and remains one to this day.  I 've read many an article about him, seen him perform once in '84.  He is definately twisted in some ways.  If it wern't for his talent as a singer/songwriter I think it's safe to say he would'a' had a much harder time in this society.  I have no idea whether he would 'a' ever murdered anyone.  But I recognize him as semi-sociopath and pretty much figure if it weren't for rock-n-roll he'd 'a' spent a lot more time in jails an' institutions.

We all have our part to play.  The truth of the juvenile delinquent should be honored.  Perhaps his insight is medicine to a sick society.

Does listenin' to ol' Black Sabbath heal you ??

Die Young

Ooh!
Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Chain the sun, and it tears away (and it breaks) you as you run, you run, you run

Behind the smile, there's danger and a promise to be told:
You'll never get old - ha!
Life's fantasy - to be locked away and still to think you're free,
You're free, we're free

So live for today, but tomorrow never comes

Die young, die young
Can't you see the writing in the end?
Die young, gonna die young
Someone stopped the (fall/fair)
Ahhahahahahaa

Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly at all
Your back's to the wall
Then chain the sun, and it tears away, (and it breaks) you as you run, you run, you run

So live for today, but tomorrow never comes
Die young, young
Die young, die young
Die young, die young, young
Die young, die young, die young, die young, die young, die young,
Die young!

Any thoughts are welcome. "

Somewhere etched in some crevice of my memory I recall that in ancient Rome there was a carving atop of some building. Inscribed into the stone was something that said to the effect..."We must do something with our young, they are outta control."

What this sez to me is, that from early on in mankinds history...our youth have always been a problem...or rather, seen as a problem. A problem that needed to be dealth with in some way or another.

Dragonfly, ya know it would be real easy to spin this thread as we have with recent ones and involve ourselves in some deep philosophical discussion. I will refrain....ahem

I share your vision, or at least have a vision that parallels yours. My vision includes starting a 5013c, a non-profit. What I see doing is getting a bank of computers (20-25) and younger folks 16-24. What I would do is to expose them to digital art. Yeah, of course they would be encourage to express them selves as they see fit...then of course take them to a point of showing thier art, selling thier art and lqater build it into an actual guild for young digital artists.

This will not only enable them to create, but in order to create they would by default learn a viable skill...Use of a computer, for more than games/chat etc.

Pipe dream? Not really....Do a search on Community Technology Centers. I voluntered for a Family Neighborhood Center, they loved the idea...problem, they specified thier efforrts to young families and infant care etc. Definately not my target... It's a doable thing.

Will see what unfolds........

Namaste
