In many cultures, in fact, in the history of the United States even, if you use the land, that is, farm it or gather off it and so on, you are the rightful owner.

Only in the worst cultures does the greedy landlord deny the peasants ownership, no matter how long they have been working the land.

We had NOthing but kids and bills and a really strong desire for our kids to have some personal autonomy; to not be slaves.
