I don't know what I think about all this but I will say that actually finding this on the internet is a shock to me.  I was in straigt in 89-90.  I'm glad to find that others have fared well since because once I left, I never spoke to anyone afterwards unless I knew them before.  I just want to put in my two cents because I believe everyone who survived the bullshit deserves to know that they are not alone.

Hello Detroit.

Yeah finding this was a huge shock for me too. I never spoke to anyone from Straight afterward either until I found Straight Survivor forums. Now I'm glad I have found other former Straight inmates, but if you would have told me I would be posting here 6 months ago, I would have said no way in hell would I ever communicate with people from Straight. Its the last thing I wanted to remember. But then along comes a bizarre twist of fate and here I am.

No, you were not. I like to bid welcome to each and every straightling that finds their way back 'into the fold' no matter which branch they happened to be in.

Thanks to all.  I never graduated from Straight because I was sent away.  I was there for maybe a year.  I block out many things but there are people I felt some kind of a connection with.  Since then, I have always wondered if it was a one way kind of connection but at this point it doesn't really matter.  Everyone who suffered together share the common experiences.

I haven't been on a computer in over four years (if you can believe that)except to check my email once in a while, so the internet is really tripping me out.  I never posted on a message board like this before so excuse me if I don't know how to use it.
