Sure a kid could tell the outside advocate (if given access that is)about what's going on, but it would not take long for the staff to figure out who opened their mouth and for staff to seek retrubution in the form of setbacks, etc."

And of course, you don't want to minimize your need for treatment and don't forget about not getting into your pity! All those things are a sure sign that you are on the verge...of....DEATH. Be Careful. Don't think negative thoughts about the program. Don't wish you could leave.

Sara, you were fine.  I was nervous as hell when I was on THurs.  I forgot to bring up several important points.  Going last sucks too cause they're getting their commercials in.  We all did great just for calling in!!

I give money for church organs in the hope the organ music will distract the congregation's attention from the rest of the service.

I felt like an idiot cause I got emotional. I wasnt expecting it at all and was so caught off guard by my emotions. I forgot to say a lot too, but how much can anyone be expected to get in in such a short period of time? What all of us have to say could take days and days. I thought you did great for what its worth.

The story is starting to get out. Whatever the hell we're doing, some of it must be on target. So let's just keep on doing in!

I think that little expression of yours is the reason its getting out "Rampant Talking Out In Group".....I hope you dont mind that I occassionally repeat it but I really believe word of mouth is powerful....so its just so worthy of repetition.

So has the story popped up elsewhere today?

I don't know, but I'm working out a way to keep better track.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.

These folks have all picked up on John's story. Please consider dropping them each a thank you note and/or adding your .02 to whatever they already seem to know.

I know how you feel, but keep in mind people on the air for a living rehearse we on the other hand shoot from the hip. I think you sounded authentic and honest. Just like all the other participants you were talking from your heart. GREAT JOB. Hey maybe we'll see ea other in the studio soon. I caught wind that a TV exec's ex wife put his kid in a program and he is just now realising how bad it was for his son and is furious about the way his son was treated and he is saddened that the "PROGRAM" destroyed him and his sons relationship. So long story short I think this TV Guy is intrested in doing the expose on STRAIGHT and STRAIGHT LIKE PROGRAMS. But as usual we'll see what happens.
Any hoo you did a fantastic job getting your point accross. Thank you for your courage

...Uh...just back to the advocate thing for a minute.  By the time i'd been in the program for a little over a year i was court-ordered.  One day out of the blue my probation officer showed up to check on me.  It was amazing but i actually got to talk to him alone in the front office.  i can't remember what phase i was on, i think 2nd.  He asked me if i was OK because he knew that str8 had a controversial reputation.  He told me he could get me outta there if i wanted.  Well, hell yeah i wanted outta there, but i was too paranoid to trust him.  i really didn't know the guy and was afraid that he would tell staff i wanted out.  i considered it a set-up and told him that i was fine.  He left and that was that.

He couldn't help me.  Couldn't even reach me.  Wasn't even really talkin' to me.  Fuck!!  The agony of havin' someone in a position to help, and wanting to help, but my mind bein' so over-run with fear and mistrust and paranoia that i couldn't trust anyone.  That is Fucked Up.

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.
