how was the LIFE reunion?
« on: June 18, 2005, 12:13:00 PM »
Hey LIFEers!

Totally stumbled on this board surfing for something else. What a trip...Helen Petermann...now there's a name I haven't thought of in years.

How was the reunion? A friend told me about it but I couldn't go...had something else planned already that weekend.

GypSeA - you were in LIFE from 1985 and you're from WPB? We must know each other...email me, would ya?

Tom M.
LIFEer from 4/9/1983 until sometime in early 1985

Well Hi, Tom.

You must have been there when I was there - apparently I came in exactly one year later than you (4/9/84).  Were you on staff?  I can't seem to place you.

Hi Tom,

I think I remember you.  Blond?  Did you know Mariah S., Kathy O.,  Doug and Mike C. (brothers)?
I was there when after you were there a while.

You know the one about the L.I.F.E. Program that exists today in osprey.I'd like to save it in my favorites fr personal reasons. I'm still in there. I might as well stay in touch with the new compound via internet. I might even show up at a meeting sometime. I paid my bill.Myself.

Well, I couldn't make the reunion, but I recently had the opportunity to visit the old compound.

I went through the door of which used to be the Open Meeting room with mixed feelings.  It looked like a Goodwill.  Well, actually, the whole place is a glorified Goodwill with elevated prices.  I saw a set of glasses from Pier 1 that retailed for about $8.00, and these jokers want $20.00.

But I digress...

I got a little woozy when I followed the hallway from the Meeting room to the rap room - that's when the smell hit me.  The SAME smell! My God!!  I looked down and realized that it must still be the same carpet.  Yikes.

As I emerged into what used to be the Rap Room, I had to giggle at the almost-lifesized statue of Michaelangelo's "David", sans fig leaf.

It was at this point, I decided to start snapping some photos with my camera phone, and I got slighly unnerved when I first poised the phone, and this 60+ year old guy comes out of nowhere (I could have sworn I was in that room alone!) and asks me something about an auction they apparently hold there.  I politely told him this was my first visit (har har), then moved along to the other side of the large room to get a photo from the girl POW's perspective.

"S'cuse me, do you know where they keep the.... "

I spun around again (He came up BEHIND me, both times!) and just stared at him, daring him to say something about me breaking some rule, which he didn't.  "My first time, remember?" Ah, yeah.  I'm not the paranoid type, but that guy had me wondering. No familiar faces in there.

D'oh!  Can't post the photos quite yet though, until I find the cable to offload the pix from the phone to the computer.  Something is wrong with my pix messaging function, so we'll just have to wait.

Nothing can capture that smell though!  **shudder**

LIFE Doesn't exist in Osprey anymore - even in the figuarative sense ... Christ - talk about God's Waiting Room!

I believe the website you're looking for http://www.lifereunion.com no longer exists.  It was being hosted on a Bell South server somewhere near Atlanta - which I'm guessing is the new home of a Celebrity LIFEr.
