WHERE IS CAICA?
« on: September 11, 2005, 12:43:00 AM »
Coalition Against Institutionalized Child Abuse?

Someone said they were fixing their website but that was weeks ago.

Is CAICA offline permanently?  If so, what happened?

Thanks!

Who the fuck are YOU to talk that way about an organization that was out there to help stop the abuse of kids in residential programs. Remember, CAICA was "Coalition Against Institutionalized Child Abuse." Sounds like people who wanted to help.

You have no idea of what you speak. And yes, they did make a difference and if things had been different they would have done even more.

I know why they are no longer around, though I can't say. I do know they were all good people with good intentions. Something happened that caused them to have to change direction. That doesn't mean they have given up on the children.

You know, if people on this forum had a better attitude and worked with each other rather than try to continually knock people down, perhaps more would be done to help the kids. As long as all this negativity continues I don't see that much is going to change. Certainly not by the folks who are posting here, that's for sure.

And then of course, the rude person who just posted could be from WWASP or any other program just trying to stir things up. That's the problem with forums like this. You just can't tell who's who.

The point being if it is someone who is interested in seeing this maddness stop then they should not be criticizing an organization that was formed to help the kids. Grow up!

What do you mean something happened to cause them to change direction?  Did they get sued?

All that was asked was Where is CAICA? No one said they were a "bad organaization." If any one read their site and took the time to question a program, then they served their purpose, right?

I received an email from them that stated they were 'making some changes' and that was it. I guess they are gone.

CAICA's website might come back, no one has said it won't. All that is being said is they had to change their direction. Who knows what that means. It's obvious there must have been some problems. It seems al ot of people liked the way they ptu the website together.

I know a lot of epoeple were happy they were around and that they miss the website because it had a lot of good infomration and was easy to find.

Iagree people really need to grow up. I agree with people who are saying that people really need to start to join forces together if there is ever going to be progress.

Didn't they have some guy on board who was affiliated with a program in Utah?

Seems to me they did, and that was a huge red flag for me.  Fox in the hen house?

Either way, orgs don't just disappear without a reason.  Somebody is not being forthright.

From what I heard they had a hard time getting insurance. As many of you know the people at WWASP will malitiously sue anyone who exposes the horrors and abuse that have occured in some of their programs - particularly those overseas. Most people do not have a million dollars to defend themselves against a defamation or libel suit. Of course WWASP will not prevail since there has been so much information exposed about their programs in the news and most would be protected by the first ammendment. With profits of 100 million dollars per year they have the money to file frivolous lawsuits against almost anyone. Currently they are suing the people at ISAC and also PURE was sued. They lost their lawsuit against PURE - but still Sue had to pay for the defence and to my knowledge the judge did not award her attorney fees - she had to pay. So this is what WWASP does for revenge - threaten those who dare expose them with lawsuits - the cost of a defence is at least one million dollars today.  They are willing to sue just about anyone who gets in their way.
There may have been some threats or at least a fear of lawsuits. They also probably have hired people to set people up for lawsuits. WWASP has a lot of followers and they pay people to search the Internet for negative information. CAICA definitely had some negative information about WWASP programs - so they may have been a target.

I agree, the layout was nice. ISAC could take some lessons from them (no offence intended, only constructive critism). What pisses me off is that I donated money to CAICA. I guess I wasted it.

Since I donated money, I had no reservations about emailing them and asking for an explanation. All I got was, 'we're making some changes.'

Didn't PURE used to have articles about WWASPS on their website?

Lots of sites have articles on them, ISAC, EP, and more. PURE may have as well.
