I'm a parent of a 2003 4th level dropout, pull,(lol), whatever you want to call it.  Didn't do well at first but now is doing really well.
Just curious how you remember host parents. I really cared alot about you guys. had to really work on "moving on" . It was hard to accept loss, of those relationships.

I was a graduate and I had similar struggles with "moving on." When I gradated (in 2001), PFC did not adequately prepare clients for the real world. Life on 5th level was much too restrictive, and being pushed out into the world was overwhelming. Sure, there are a lot of parents that I cared about that I never heard much from again, and it is surely a loss, but one that is overcome with time.

I hear things are better at PFC now (no arming, clients can talk to parents on 1st, clients can go outside, clients can wear shoes) and I think this is a plus for the program. I'm not sure how much more freedom clients have on higher levels. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Hello former parent, I think i know who you are... I know for me being a client, i loved the host parents, they were all so kind and helped me to progress in my recovery by talking to me, being there for me, and listening as well, like my owm parents almost...I personally think the program nowadays, with its relaxed rules, is too soft... people get away with a lot more.I needed all the structure I had, it was essential for my growth as a responsible person...

You're a jackass. too soft? what the hell is the matter with you? OOoh yay they can go outside.
What the hell? when did these kids become criminals that shouldn't be allowed to go outside?  They are kids that probably don't even do anything that bad and they are imprisoned. Fuck you and i hope you relax.

Someone tell me what the new rules are like. Arming? Shoes? Watched in the bathroom? Outside? Talking to parents other than ammends sessions on 1st? Clicking? Music? TV? Food limits? Clothing limits?

i hated pathway. but strangely enough all the people i hang out with now are people i was in the program . we have all relapsed, but it is not how they taught us it would be in the program. they taught us that if ever even had a sip of alcohol that basically our lives would go to shit. and we would die and blah blah blah. in my experience out of the over 100 people i was in the program with at one point of another i know about 3 that have stayed clean. i think the reason for that is that most of the kids we get in there are young 15,16 years old. And do NOT have serious problems. they try to tell a 15 year old kid who smoked pot 10 times in his life that hes a drug addict and all this nonsense. it brainwashes you for the time your there but it dosnt take long once you get out to realize that you were young and experiementing and just needed to time to grow out of that phase. In conclusion i can only speak for myself but I have relapsed, and i dont use drugs the way i use to. i go to school, work, and get everything done i need to ...and still can have a fucking drink on the weekend if i want to. most all the people im friends with are in teh same situation. can anyone else RELATE? haha

Congratulations!!  That's what happens with most kids.  They grow out of or moderate most destructive behaviors that are an inherent part of adolescense.  Seems that a lot of parents get duped into believing that their kid is going to DIE without putting them in a program.  Sad.
