Are there any normal people here?
« Reply #30 on: July 07, 2005, 04:58:00 PM »
"A girl in the dorm tried to have sex with me"-Big deal.Never had an unwanted advance before?I'll bet you 90% of the free world has.

"On several occasions I was put in solitary confinement (the corner) for no good reason at all for days on end. People screaming/cursing in my face constantly; people spitting in my face; people crushing my self-esteem and confusing me with regard to my identity."
- Jesus, you are dramatic, lol.Corner? big deal.Morons screaming? Umm. I have had BOSSES who screamed louder and with REAL CONSEQUENCES!AND IF YOUR IDENTITY WAS CONFUSED YOU WERE A REALLY WEAK SPECIMEN  IN THE FIRST PLACE!

"And let?s not forget the strip searches, watching people get the shit beat out of them"
-I never ONCE saw anyone get the shit beat out of them, lol.

"censored mail and phone calls, and sleep deprivation. The list goes on, but I can?t remember everything right now. "
-Big deal. Someone listened to your call.Sleep deprived?I slept ok. Your lazy ass need more than 8 hours sleep?Welcome to the real world.

I went into élan as a young girl who hated my parents and hated authority, but really had no other issues (no sex, drugs, violence or dropping out of school). Then I was imprisoned for 3 years for these ?crimes? without due process. "
-If you had 'no other issues' it would not have taken you 3 YEARS to get out lolololol!!!
Normal people just go with the flow and do what they have to do and are not overly dramatic (see above

"So, I start doing drugs, having sex and I couldn?t trust anyone. I was afraid to make friends and afraid to have a boyfriend. I never even told anyone about my experience in élan until recently. I was definitely more messed up when I got out of Elan than I was when I went in. "
-HAHAHAHA THIS IS THE COUP DE GRACE!!!!!IT'S NOBOY'S FAULT  BUT YOUR OWN THAT YOU BECAME A SLUTTING DRUG LOSER!
You were VERY OBVIOUSLY crazy before Elan, sorry.
Howcome I just did what I needed to, got out, went to college, gott a great job pretty much without incident.
I do the occasional party night with the other normals lol, everything in moderation.
I never 'blame things ' on Elan like "Oh my god, I can't trust terrorists!! BECAUSE I WENT TO ELAN!!"Or "Oh no, I had a bad boyfriend BECAUSE I WENT TO ELAN!!"
Jesus.
Damaged is as dameged does, you were this wasy WAY before you got senrt to this silly place.
If you were not a basket case, elan would NEVER have affected you this way.
Sorry but it s true.

Well, my best guess? Either you were clueless and had no idea what was going on around you or you're a prick and just didn't give a shit.

And don't break your arm patting yourself on the back over your speedy graduation. Fact is it generally doesn't matter what you do or don't do. They let you out when the payor is no longer willing or able to pay. Simple as that.

They used to burn witches. Today we laugh at them. Today we jail people for marijuana. Tomorrow they'll laugh at us.

Do you think Elan's method is good therapy for kids w/ emotional issues?

No laws, however stringent, can make the idle industrious, the thriftless provident, or the drunken sober

Actually, my parents were willing to pay whatever it took, they are endlessly wealthy....they paid out of their pockets and it didnt make a dent, trust me.
Fact.
Also, I know what goes on around me, I just really didn't give a shit about Elan, lol. I just cared about myself and getting out. Any sane individual would. If that's prickish, than prickish I am, lol.
However-

In reference to your last question....No, I think the mentally ill people(most of the people on this board) should have been in hospitals or special homes.
Elan was a decent holding tank for the bratty kids to get taught a lesson maybe. The reason i was not really affected in any way was because I was emotionally stable.Obviously, the unstable kids had a different rsponse, therefore again, the unstable kids should be in hospitals.

PERFECT description!
Elan was a good holding tank for bratty kids to learn a lesson!!
Never heard it so perfectly put!
Indeed, the crazier kids should never have been there, they should have been in hospital!

Ok, well look at how they're advertising.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=elan+school+maine

Does this look to you asif they're only promising babysitting services for spoiled rich brats? I think people looking for what Elan is selling ought to have a shot at the truth behind the ads.

Am I wrong?

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.

To tell you the truth, I couldn't care less, lol.
It didn't affect my life and how it affects the lives of those with less mental capacity is really not my concern.
Who cares?
You really need a hobby and a doctor.

I know who the anon here is that keeps on defending Elan.  The anon who loves a debate.  The anon who claims to be normal and well-adjusted.  The anon who keeps promising to go away and never come back...but always does.  IT'S TAMAR!!!  Can you believe it guys?  Tamar is trying to teach us what normal is.

Anon, if you are so "normal" then why were you in Elan? That's the million dollar question.

Oh and you asked "why I was in Elan" read earlier posts.
My parents had serious problems which have since been resolved by therapy.
There was tension between us and they were too busy to deal.
They had the money, so they spent it on Elan.
Every claim I ever make is honest.
Although my opinions might not always be shared, there is not one lie in any statement I make.
I apologise if you do not like my truths.

If you are so normal Tamar, you would not have an eating disorder. Stop throwing stones at the people here.

Listen-
everyone in mahattan has an ed.
hahaha
my friend is dating Lindsay lohan(the singer of my mans band) come on.
Welcome to reality.
besides, most of my disorder is played up for laughs.Didn't you get that memo?
I'm skinny. Who cares hahaha? My friends are all way skinnier than I.
In manhattan we call this a diet, lol.

seriously, maybe where you're from people let themselves go.
there are different standards here.
Like I said, great job, great money, great man, normal living.

I'm not here to explain that sort of thing to you.
You and I are from totally differnt walks of life.
Trust me, I'm normal.
We are all creatures of our atmospheres, dear.

Being thin is not a crime.
Being stagnant and weak, hoewever, is.

I don't think anyone here is stagnant or weak. I also do not feel the need or think it's appropriate to brag about what I have or who I know. What's the point? People usually do this sort of thing to look down on others. Everyone has their own reasons for why they do things the way they do. Not everyone has access to the same choices or resources that are out there. So you got "lucky" that your parents are wealthy and you got a leg up in the world. Big deal. I have more admiration for people that struggled to get where they are versus having everything handed to them. Money does not define success as you should very well know. It boils down to what type of human being you are and external factors having nothing to do with it.

Seroiusly, Tamar it's very scary you consider yourself normal when you try to humilate people because of their weight, looks, or how their life has turned out. Sadly, many people out there have your perception and it's flawed. I suggest you really take a look at yourself and try to figure out what your inner qualities are as a human being versus trying to always belittle people.
