WAR ON DRUGS propagand stuff
« on: June 30, 2005, 05:22:00 AM »
Hi.

A time ago I was reading this post about propaganda that intensified and practically began the War on Drugs. The post included a link to a graphic novel that was all about drugs and the politicians who created the myths about Marijuana as a gateway. One politician in particular was named time and again as his campaign for laws and anti drug pumping became somehow infamous. Also, in the novel was a famous doctor who got off cocaine to be given heroine or something that worked better. Any help finding this story would be great.

After doing a lot of searching I cannot manage to find that post or that linked post.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try Smoke and Mirrors by Dan Baum.

Not sure who the politician and doctor are.

that's good for starters. I'm on the right track. Actually, if I remember arite the site was posting something just like the one you just gave and then someone else may have mentioned a link to the graphic novel part of the creation of the myths and war on drugs. It was very entertaining and informative.
