Use the Search WWF function here on Sue Scheff, PURE, Whitmore Academy etc.  There is TONS of info here.  From what I gather, Sue opened up PURE (a referral service for "troubled teens") after her kid was in an abusive program.  PURE claims to be the voice of reason in all the insanity of the industry.  Hope you don't fall for it.  Also see ISAC...

http://www.isaccorp.org/documentsnz.html#whitmore

How did she happen to email you??

It continues to amaze me to talk to law students -- college
graduates all and smarter than the average bear -- who will
seriously tell me about how dangerous mj is and how it
destroys the lives of those who use it and who, in the
very next sentence, will tell me how they and their
friends -- now CPAs, engineers, med students -- used
pot regularly through high school and college.  And
they don't see the contradiction between these statements.

We're not just talking ignorance here -- we are talking
deep down, serious, religious indoctrination.

Sue runs PURE, which is full of stuff about how bad WWASPS is, we need regulation, etc, etc. seems good, right?

Well, all it does is refer kids to programs, and they admit they take referral fees, though not as bluntly as they should be required to.

Also, apparently, shes referred children to some abusive programs, and refuses to do anything about the abuse accusations, but shes full of piss and vinegar for WWASPS.

Overall, I think shes a bastard for doing the same shit she accuses WWASPS of doing.

If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit  people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good?  Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race?

Cayo:

I was doing some research on the teen industry, and sent her a email requesting information.

There is so much misinformation and so much checking to do. These forums are useful to help sort through it all

What prompted you to begin to research this?  You are correct, there is soooo much misinformation.  I'm glad to see that you are willing to take the time to dig through it all.

One of the things that bothers me most about this PURE issue is that even after abuses had been reported at the Whitmore, they continued to refer people there....from my admittedly limited point of view.  I've read what is here, on ISAC and PURE's own site and that's what I've seen.  Now I am again, admittedly biased (I am very much what you would consider 'anti-program')...but even from any semblance of an objective perspective that's not a good idea.

I don't believe in God. My god is patriotism. Teach a man to be a good citizen and you have solved the problem of life.

sorry to interrupt the direction this thread took, but is sammiegirl samantha willams?

I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religion than it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.

Nope...who is that?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of it's victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busy-bodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those that torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
